8 high quality seeds
Arisaema nepenthoides, also known as the Pitcher Cobra Lily, is a striking tuberous perennial plant native to the Himalayas and parts of China. It is praised for its unusual, pitcher-shaped flowers and attractive foliage. The plant typically reaches between 0.5 and 1 meter in height. It features large, dark green leaves that are digitate (fingered), usually with five to seven leaflets, on stems often splashed or mottled with black or brown. The leaves have a distinctive leathery, umbrella-like appearance.
Sowing: Sow indoors at any time. Soak the seeds in warm water for 24 hours. Then sow just under the surface of moist, well-drained peat free compost mixed with coir and vermiculite. Place the seeds in the growing medium and lightly cover. Keep in a cool, light place. Germination should begin within two weeks but can be erratic and take a lot longer. Once the seedlings have developed, transplant in larger pots. Once the plant is mature, it can be planted outside in permanent position, or gown in large pots. The seeds will benefit from a cold period so they can be grown from autumn onwards.
Tip: In winter, the Pitcher Cobra Lily will require good drainage and thick mulch to prevent the rhizomes from rotting.
