Acacia Catechu, also known as Senegalia Catechu, is a medium sized, thorny, deciduous tree. Numerous pale-yellow flowers grow in slender, cylindrical spikes that emerge from the leaf axils. The leaves are alternate and bipinnately compound, consisting of many small, linear leaflets that are a pale green colour. It will make a great colourful addition to any garden.
Sowing: Before sowing the seeds, they should be gently scarified, then soaked in warm water for 24 hours. After that, sow the seeds in good compost just under the surface. Keep the growing medium moist but do not overwater. Place in a bright and warm location. Seedlings should appear in around 6 to 8 weeks. Once the seedlings are strong enough, they can be potted on.
Tip: Acacia will tolerate light frost. In colder regions, it should be grown in a container that can be overwintered indoors, in a greenhouse or conservatory
