This evergreen or semi-evergreen shrub is grown for its striking trumpet shaped flowers and will make an impressive container plant.

Sowing: Growing Brugmansia is relatively easy. With the help of a sharp knife scrape the seeds and then soak in warm water for 24 hours. Then sow the seeds in fine compost and cover with vermiculite as the seeds need light to germinate. Keep moist and place in a warm light place of up to 25-27°C. The seeds should germinate between 3 to 8 weeks. Once the first true leaves have developed, pot on the seedlings in larger containers of fine compost.

Tip: Protect young plants from frost to help them get established.
