Areca Palm is a popular house plant that will grow up to 2-2.5 m tall in full maturity. Lots of stems emerge from the base to produce graceful, arching fronds that look a bit like bamboo. It is relatively low maintenance and is popular for its air purifying ability. It will also make any interior look elegant and sophisticated.

Sowing:  Before sowing, peel the husk from around the seed. Sow the seeds indoors or in a propagator at no less than 22-25°C temperature. Germination can take between 6 to 8 weeks. Grow on in a loam-based compost in bright indirect light. When in growth, water moderately and feed with a balanced fertiliser once a month.

Tip: Areca palms need to be snug within their pot so only repot in spring, into a slightly larger pot, if root bound.
