Colombian Climbing Lily
Packet contents: 5 seeds
This is a stunning climber from the alstroemeria family that originates from South America. It will form a vine up to 3 m tall that will produce clusters of bell shaped flowers. Suitable for most temperate climates and frost intolerant, so will need protection in winter.
Sowing: Sow indoors at any time. Soak the seeds in warm water for 24 hours. After that place in some vermiculate and put in the fridge for around 6 weeks. Then sow on the surface of moist, well-drained seed compost. Just cover the seeds with soil and keep moist at temperature of 22-24°C. Germination should begin within a few weeks but can be erratic and take a lot longer. Once the seedlings have developed 3-4 leaves, transplant in larger pots. Grow on for a year before potting on.
Tip: The best position to grow in the border is moist, well-drained soil and full sun.
