Phoenix Acaulis, also known as the Dwarf Date Palm, is an interesting species from the Date Palm family. It has no formed trunk, just lots of spikes coming from the base. For this reason, it is also called “trunkless” palm. Great for growing both indoors and outdoors.

Sowing:  Sow the seeds indoors or in a propagator at no less than 25C temperature. Grow under glass or as a houseplant in a loam-based compost in bright indirect light. When in growth, water moderately and feed with a balanced fertiliser once a month. Water sparingly in winter. If moved outside in summer, locate in a sunny sheltered position with some midday shade. Pot on, as the plant grows, into suitable size containers.

Tip: Only water when the soil had started to dry out – this will prevent it from becoming waterlogged.
