Acacia is a flowering tree with delicate yellow flowers. Once the flowers are over, they are replaced by seed pods. It has got pretty foliage, too. Once established, the tree will make a great addition to any garden, adding colour as well as structure.

Sowing:  Before sowing the seeds, they should be gently scarified, then soaked in warm water for 24 hours. After that sow the seeds in good compost just under the surface. Keep the growing medium moist but do not overwater. Place in a bright and warm location. Seedlings should appear in around 6 to 8 weeks. Once the seedlings are strong enough, they can be potted on.

Tip: Acacia will tolerate light frost, but does not tolerate shade or strong winds.
