A striking purple perennial that will produce tall, beautiful, feather like blooms and will give an exotic look to the border. Makes a great cut flower, too.

Sowing: Growing liatris is relatively easy. Sow indoors in autumn or direct sow in spring. Sow the seeds on the surface of fine compost covering lightly with vermiculite or sprinkle of soil. Keep moist but do not over water. Store in a warm place at temperature of approx 18-21°C. Seeds will germinate in 3 to 4 weeks. When seedlings are strong enough to handle, they can be transplanted in larger pots and kept in warm, light position. Plant out when danger of frost has passed.

Tip: After the season, leave the flower spikes on the plant for winter interest.
