Putranjiva roxburghii is an evergreen tree with pendant branches. It is popularly known as Lucky Bean Tree as the fruit it produces resembles beans. The fruit has wide use both for medicinal and ornamental purposes.

Sowing:  Before sowing the seeds, they should be gently scarified, then soaked in warm water for 24 hours. After that sow the seeds in good compost just under the surface. Keep the growing medium moist but do not overwater. Place in a bright and warm location. Seedlings should appear in around 6 to 8 weeks. Once the seedlings are strong enough, they can be potted on.

Tip: Putranjiva is a tropical tree so will not tolerate frost, so in colder climates it will need winter protection.
