Mimosa pudica, also known as sensitive plant is an annual, which can be grown in the border or as a house plant. It will produce small pink flowers but is best known for its moving leaves, which when touched, inwards as if closing.
The plant is grown successfully indoors all year round but may never flower.
Sowing: Soak the seeds in lukewarm water 24 hours prior to sowing. Sow in good quality compost and keep moist but do not overwater. The seeds should germinate between 7 and 21 days if kept in temperature of around 21-25 C.
Once the seedlings appear, pot on and as the plant grows keep potting on as appropriate.
Flowers: July to October
