Briza Maxima (Quaking Grass)

Briza Maxima is an attractive ornamental grass, also known as Quacking Grass or Pearl Grass. Briza will make a great addition to any border forming dense tufts of linear leaves with long–lasting, open panicles of nodding pale yellow spikelets on slender branches. Briza can be used for cutting and dried flower arrangements. It is an erect hardy annual grass that will grow up to 60 cm in height.

Sowing: Easy to grow, Briza will thrive in moist, well-drained fertile soils in a sunny position. The seeds can be sown straight into the soil so there is no need for indoor propagation or gardening experience. Sow in a prepared bed and keep the soil moist but do not over-water. Once the seedlings are strong enough, they can be thinned and moved around the garden to create beautiful arrangements.

Sowing Times: Autumn, Spring (September to May)
