Wild Garlic is a perennial plant with a delicate garlic flavour and the whole plant is edible. It tastes great in salads, soups and other dishes.

Wild garlic lowers high blood pressure, reduces cholesterol in the blood and also the cholesterol residue in the blood vessels’ walls.

Sowing: Sow the seeds direct in the garden or in pots in a cold greenhouse from October to March. The seeds will need a cold spell to wake up, so sowing before winter is ideal. If sown in spring, they can be stratified (put in cold conditions /fridge) and then sown. The seeds will germinate once the surrounding temperature has reached 15-20 degrees. Sow the seeds around 1 cm  deep and , if sown in pots, keep moist but do not overwater as the seeds may rot.

Tip: Wild garlic is a woodland plant so will do well in shaded areas of the garden.
