Musa Balbisiana, also known as plantain, is one of the ancestors of the modern cultivated bananas. It grows lush leaves in clumps with a more upright habit than most cultivated bananas. The flowers grow in bright shades from red to maroon. In colder climates, it needs to be kept frost free, so protection in winter is essential.
