The Yellow Flame Tree, also known as Copper Rod Tree, is a striking tree with beautiful large fragrant, crinkly-petalled, bright yellow flowers, which form pods which are up to 10 cm long and 2 cm broad, and are red at first, ripening to dark brown/black. A very unusual hardy tropical plant with large leaves, arranged spirally unlike the common gingers. The striking flowers appear in late summer or early autumn, forming large red cone-shaped bracts, with several, pure white, crinkled flowers protruding from each cone.
